1. Installing Parallels H-Sphere

1.1 Installing Parallels H-Sphere Control Panel and *nix Servers

Pre-Installation:

Parallels H-Sphere 3.2 and later require a new License according to the Parallels H-Sphere Licensing. To purchase or lease a new license key, go to http://www.parallels.com/store/hsphere/.

Before installing H-Sphere 3.3:

• Make sure you have an up-to-date license.
• In your firewall settings, open the port 5224 and specify the connection type 'tcp'.
• Make sure the ifconfig utility on CP box has 755 permissions.

Installation:

To install Parallels H-Sphere on Unix, follow our H-Sphere Control Panel Installation Guide at http://hsphere.parallels.com/docs/3.3/installation/cp/html/index.htm.

Post-Installation:

• When the installation is finished, Parallels H-Sphere Control Panel will be available at http://SERVICE_IP:8080.
• Parallels H-Sphere installation program does not set up missing service IPs. You should set them up manually.
• After Parallels H-Sphere is installed, it includes two accounts which may not be deleted:
  1. the admin account (login: admin, password: admin) to configure system settings. It is highly recommended to change the password of this account as soon as the installation and testing have been completed.
  2. the wwwuser account to manage the control panel domain, which is also used by other servers in the system.

1.2 Installing Parallels H-Sphere Winbox

Pre-Installation:

You can also refer to the Preparing Windows Server documentation.

Installation:

• Parallels H-Sphere Winbox resources are installed by means of respective MSI packages.
• Some third-party Parallels H-Sphere services (like Miva or ColdFusion) will not be installed on the Windows server if the original software is absent on the box. First, install the third-party software, and then run the Update Wizard on this box again to install respective Parallels H-Sphere MSI packages (HSMiva, HSColdFusion, etc.).

2. Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere

2.1 Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Control Panel and *nix Servers

This section instructs on how to upgrade Parallels H-Sphere Windows software to version 3.3 (Build 1101) from the version 2.5 and higher .

Before Update

Parallels H-Sphere 3.2 and higher requires a new License according to the Parallels H-Sphere Licensing structure. When upgrading to H-Sphere 3.3, you lose your older license and will not be able to enter your control panel unless you apply a new license.

Before upgrading to H-Sphere 3.3:

• Make sure to upgrade your key by going to: https://www.parallels.com/hsphere/key_upgrade/.
• In your firewall settings, open the port 5224 and specify the connection type 'tcp'.
• Make sure the ifconfig utility on the CP box has 755 permissions.
• If you are on RHEL 4 operating system, use kernel 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL and higher to work correctly with Java 1.6.

After Update

After you have updated Parallels H-Sphere, please make sure you meet the following requirements:

• Winbox Update. Upgrade Winbox to Parallels H-Sphere 3.3.
• Customization. If you have custom Parallels H-Sphere templates, you may probably need to update them according to changes introduced in this version.
• IMP Horde (Webmail). Having updated the package, make sure to migrate your Horde histories data into a separate table located in the Horde database (introduced in a new Horde version).

2.2 Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Winbox

This section instructs on how to upgrade Parallels H-Sphere Windows software to version 3.3 (Build 1101) from the version 2.5 and higher.

Before Update:

1. Parallels H-Sphere 3.3 for Windows is not compatible with Parallels H-Sphere 3.2 and lower version. Before upgrading a Windows box to the newer version, make sure that the Control Panel of the same version is already installed on the CP server.
2. Open SOAP port 10125 for data communication between Control Panel and Windows server.
3. If you are going to use Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, make sure to install SharePoint before upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Winbox.
4. We currently do not recommend updating Parallels H-Sphere Winbox when there are 512 and more ColdFusion mappings on a Windows server (i.e., ColdFusion is turned on for more than 511 user domains).

• Parallels H-Sphere Winbox resources are installed by means of respective MSI packages.
• If you update from Parallels H-Sphere 2.5 or 3.0, Parallels H-Sphere home folder (for example, C:\HSphere or C:\HSphere.NET) will be moved to C:\Program Files\HSphere.
• If you update Winbox 2.5 or 3.0 with EasyApp installed, Update Wizard will build an MSI package out of EasyApp applications and install them into a new location. An older collection package will be uninstalled.

After Update:

Please contact support and inform us about the upgrade. This is required to get appropriate support.

4.2 Known Problems

Unix:

1. In libphp mode, PHP scripts run under httpd, while in CGI/FastCGI mode, under their user, and this may cause permission conflicts when switching between PHP modes.
2. PHP settings redefined at the level of the Apache VirtualHost (VH) configuration (in case of customized VH templates) will be ignored in CGI/FastCGI mode.
3. Java 1.6 requires kernel 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL and higher to work correctly in RHEL 4 operating system family.
4. Using PHP op-code cache accelerators often leads to the web server crash by causing a segmentation fault.
5. If customization related to PHP Acceleration and Encoding (iOn Cube, Zend) has not been removed from the PHP configuration files before the upgrade, this may lead to configuration errors or even crashes.

Windows:

1. FTP subaccounts are unable to log on to the File Manager (WebShell).
2. After performing "content move", anonymous FTP virtual hosts aren't removed from the "source" server.
3. "Default web site" and entries below can prompt access credentials because authentication for "default web site" is set to allow only "integrated windows authentication". The problem appears after upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Winbox from 3.0 to 3.1.
4. When HsMiva, HsColdFusion, HsUrchin are not installed on Winbox, it causes "!" critical warning near the win_hosting logical server. However, it does not affect the workability of Winbox.
5. PHP SQLite extension for Parallels Sitebuilder on WinBox does not support UTF-8 encoding, so text information on the site may be displayed incorrectly. Customers will see the warning:

   PHP SQLite extension does not support UTF-8 encoding on the publishing server. Text information on the site may be displayed incorrectly.
