First, install the third-party software, and then run the Update Wizard on this box again to install respective Parallels H-Sphere MSI packages (HSMiva, HSColdFusion, etc.).

Post-Installation:

Please contact support and inform us about the installation. This is required to get appropriate support from Parallels.

2. Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere

This section instructs on how to upgrade Parallels H-Sphere to version 3.5.0 from the version 3.4.1.

Note: in case you have older H-Sphere version it will be needed to upgrade to 3.4.1 first.

If there are Winboxes in your H-Sphere environment, please address both the following sub-sections consequently.

2.1 Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Control Panel and *nix Servers

Pre-upgrade:

Parallels H-Sphere 3.5 requires a new License according to the Parallels H-Sphere Licensing structure. When upgrading to H-Sphere 3.5, you lose your older license and will not be able to enter your control panel unless you apply a new license.

Make sure to upgrade your key by going to: https://www.parallels.com/hsphere/key_upgrade/.

Upgrade:

To upgrade Parallels H-Sphere on Unix:

  1. Download Parallels H-Sphere 3.5 Installation/Update script available at http://download.hsphere.parallels.com/shiv/HS/releases/U35.0/U35.0/U35.0.

  2. Run the script:

    # sh U35.0 update

Installation script will run in interactive mode.

  3. Follow instructions of the interactive installation wizard.

For more details on installing Parallels H-Sphere on Unix, refer to Parallels H-Sphere Upgrade Guide at http://hsphere.parallels.com/docs/3.5/upgrade/html/index.htm.

Post-upgrade:

2.2 Upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Winbox

This section instructs on how to upgrade Parallels H-Sphere Windows software to version 3.5.0 from the version 3.4.1.

Before Update:

  1. Parallels H-Sphere 3.5.0 for Windows is not compatible with Parallels H-Sphere 3.4 and lower version. Before upgrading a Windows box to the newer version, make sure that the Control Panel of the same version is already installed on the CP server.
  2. If you need to update a Windows box from Windows Server 2008 to R2 perform the Windows upgrade before upgrading H-Sphere Winbox.
  3. Parallels H-Sphere 3.5.0 for Windows requires ASP.NET 2.0. Ensure that your server has ASP.NET 2.0 before upgrading Parallels H-Sphere.
  4. We currently do not recommend updating Parallels H-Sphere Winbox when there are 512 and more ColdFusion mappings on a Windows server (i.e., ColdFusion is turned on for more than 511 user domains).

Update:

To update Parallels H-Sphere Winbox:

  1. Update the Winbox from the Control Panel:

    1. Go to E.Manager > Update > Update Boxes.

    2. Select checkboxes of the servers you need to update.

    3. Click Start Update.

For details, refer to the Parallels H-Sphere Upgrade Guide at http://hsphere.parallels.com/docs/3.5/upgrade/html/index.htm.

After Update:

Please contact support and inform us about the upgrade. This is required to get appropriate support.

4.2 Known Problems

Windows:

  1. Subaccount prefix doesn’t work for windows accounts.
  2. Edit SSL / "Install Certificate based on previously generated Certificate request" option doesn’t work for windows boxes.
  3. Windows 2008 x64 / Windows 2008 R2 specific problems:
  4. Migration problems (Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 x64):
  5. FTP subaccounts are unable to log on to the File Manager (WebShell).
  6. After performing "content move", anonymous FTP virtual hosts aren't removed from the "source" server.
  7. Web statistics isn't calculated if ISAPI_Rewrite is enabled.
Solution for IIS7: use UrlRewrite module.
  8. "Default web site" and entries below can prompt access credentials because authentication for "default web site" is set to allow only "integrated windows authentication". The problem appears after upgrading Parallels H-Sphere Winbox from 3.0 to 3.1.
  9. When HsMiva, HsColdFusion, HsUrchin are not installed on Winbox, it causes "!" critical warning near the win_hosting logical server. However, it does not affect the workability of Winbox.
  10. PHP SQLite extension for Parallels Sitebuilder on WinBox does not support UTF-8 encoding, so text information on the site may be displayed incorrectly. Customers will see the warning:
PHP SQLite extension does not support UTF-8 encoding on the publishing server. Text information on the site may be displayed incorrectly.

Unix:

  1. modlogan does not work since H-Sphere 3.4.
Solution: downgrade manually hsphere-modlogan package to version 0.8.13-1.
  2. "Will be charged" info is shown incorrectly when refund is greater then recurrent.
  3. In libphp mode, PHP scripts run under httpd, while in CGI/FastCGI mode, under their user, and this may cause permission conflicts when switching between PHP modes.
  4. PHP settings redefined at the level of the Apache VirtualHost (VH) configuration (in case of customized VH templates) will be ignored in CGI/FastCGI mode.
  5. Java 1.6 requires kernel 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL and higher to work correctly in RHEL 4 operating system family.
  6. Using PHP op-code cache accelerators often leads to the web server crash by causing a segmentation fault.
  7. If customization related to PHP Acceleration and Encoding (iOn Cube, Zend) has not been removed from the PHP configuration files before the upgrade, this may lead to configuration errors or even crashes.
  8. Internal server error during publishing SiteBuilder site.
Workaround: add "FastCgiConfig -idle-timeout 60" string right after FastCgiServer directive to ~cpanel/apache/conf/sitebuilder.conf, ~cpanel/apache/conf/sitebuilder.conf.tmpl.linux and restart httpdcp service.
  9. Sitebuilder installation/update (as a part of physical server update) can fail if there are two or more IP addresses assigned to Control Panel logical server.
Workaround: remove all extra IP addresses from Control Panel logical server, and restart update of corresponding physical server.
  10. During physical server update, MySQL warns about three deprecated configuration settings.
Workaround: before updating the physical server, create /hsphere/local/config/mysql/my.cnf_tmpl.custom based on /hsphere/local/config/mysql/my.cnf_tmpl, fix the created custom template using information from MySQL web site, and run /hsphere/local/config/mysql/scripts/config_mysql.
  11. On FreeBSD, /hsphere/shared/bin/rrdtool will refuse to run if these packages are not installed: freetype2, png (all FreeBSD versions) and libart_lgpl (only modern FreeBSD versions).
When you try to run it manually, error message looks like:
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libpng.so.5" not found, required by "rrdtool"
    Workaround: install needed packages manually.
  12. On RedHat, /hsphere/shared/bin/rrdtool and /hsphere/shared/bin/mrtg will refuse to run if these packages are not installed: freetype, libpng (all RedHat versions) and libart_lgpl (only modern RedHat versions).
When you try to run rrdtool manually, error message looks like:
/hsphere/shared/bin/rrdtool: error while loading shared libraries: libart_lgpl_2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Similarly, mrtg service will start, but in /var/log/mrtg/current you will see continuous errors like:
@400000004d5064950cb85edc Can't load '/hsphere/shared/lib/perl5/site_perl//auto/RRDs/RRDs.so' for module RRDs: libpng12.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory at /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/x86_64-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line 230.
    @400000004d5064950cc7f70c at /hsphere/shared/bin/mrtg line 342

    Workaround: install needed packages manually.
  13. Rules Du Jour updates stopped function as deprecated.
